Whenever I look back to the time when the teen drama series Degrassi made its debut in the year 2001, I wonder how far it has come.

With a simple, yet beguiling storyline the series has made its intense impression on the minds of many.

By the way, does anyone of you have an idea from where has this terrific series emerged out?

Well, if not, then let me introduce you to the roots of this series origin.

It all started in the year 1979.

Yeah! I was expecting this weird expression on your face. But, before you jump on the foreground, telling me to ascertain the information, let me tell you confidently that I have jotted absolutely correct information.

Now, without any further interruptions, let me proceed.

Alright, so it was way back in the late 70s that Linda Schuyler, a former school teacher, and her partner Kit Hood created a teen drama Degrassi universe, in their production company named, Playing with Time.

Linda created three fictional series namely – The Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High, and Degrassi High, which people did watch.

And this is how Degrassi emerged out, paving a way to almost the same story, which many of us now see online.

I am sure, for many, this would be complete new information, but that’s the reality!

Not only did the series embrace appreciations in media via favorable reviews from Entertainment Weekly, AfterElton.com, The New York Times, and many more but it also has been honored with a number of awards.

To everyone’s surprise, Degrassi has received over fifty awards so far, and that not only nationally, but internally; and it has also been nominated for many other awards as well that are for its tremendous production.

The series is running in its 11th season at present, and the cast list seems to be quite long, which indeed is expected.

Even after doling out about 263 episodes, there seems to be no stoppage in the production of the show.

No, it’s not that I want the series to wrap up, but it’s simply that I am quite amazed at its success; and equally elated too.

I wish the series to continue many years to come, so that we continue to enjoy the performance of Degrassi characters.

… And I am not talking about any tale from one the episodes of the ongoing season of the teen show.

In fact, the series has really made the dreams of a teenager come true!

16-year-old Lyle O’Donohoe couldn’t believe his ears, when he heard the casting news that confirmed him a berth in the smash hit.

When asked about his reaction on the new chapter of his life, the elated kid revealed that it was one of his dreams to be a part of his favorite show.

He shows up as a ninth grader, Tristan, and plays an important role as younger brother to the on-screen character of Owen Milligan.

During a recent tête-à-tête, the young aspirant spoke his heart out and poured words of praise on the character of Tristan.

I was interested to hear him say that the ninth grader is more of a straightforward kind of guy. He also drew a thin line between himself and Tristan.

Sounds a bit intriguing, doesn’t it? Well, Lyle O’Donohoe wants to make it a point that he is smarter than his on-screen avatar. Well boy, you definitely are, and the fact that you got to play a part in a series that constantly deals with some controversial Issues of teenagers is a live testament of that.

Sharing about his tantrums, the promising actor said that he was a bit frightened to appear on the sets during shooting in Toronto.

I feel like having a download of his acts in Degrassi, to see if he has floundered! Sensing the confidence in him, I don’t think pressure would have mounted on him. With hopes in his eyes, the Markdale-born guy also informed that one day he would work with Quentin Tarantino.

I just wish that all his dreams come true!

Well, well, look who is back! It’s none other than Mark Fitzgerald aka Fitz, who is back to the Degrassi Community School! For the sake of those poor souls who have been unable to keep up with the show for one reason or another, let’s refresh our memories. Fitz belongs to a common species, HighScholius Bullius , also known as the School bully, a kind found only in high schools!

The standard features of the specimen include a permanent frown on the face, a sadistic smile contorting the mouth, and such like! The sad part is that behind every such school bully, there is the shadow of child-abuse. Every bully, more often than not, is a victim himself/herself.

Fitz fits the bill of your average high school bully in every possible way. Intrigued about his past, eh? Stay tuned for more of that. For now, let’s recap his abrupt departure. It was not really surprising for the viewers to find Fitz threatening Eli with a knife and then getting sent to the juvenile school, after the whole school was placed under lockdown due to his antics. Phew!

Fast-forwarding to the current scenario, we see that Fitz has been released after serving his sentence. He is now working and is desperate to talk to Clare. And baby-girl Clare is scared out of her cute little shoes when Fitz shows up, but lightens up to listen to him eventually. Fitz then apologizes vehemently and begs for her forgiveness.

Interesting twist this! Meanwhile, Eli has come across as a rather possessive girl, almost to the extent of smothering! Now, this trait of Eli’s behavior has been bugging Clare no end, and the sudden reappearance of a repentant Fitz further befuddles an already complicated situation. The real trouble for Eli comes when Fitz opens up to Clare about his abusive brother.

The door is now open for Fitz and Clare, or so it seems from the current state of things!
